Golf-Specific Evaluation (90 minutes)

This musculoskeletal assessment examines the range of motion, flexibility, joint stability and strength as they relate to the golf swing. A “Six Step Evaluation” and Functional Movement Screen (FMS) will be completed to determine the effects of tight tissues and muscles during the swing motion. At the completion of this session, a treatment plan will be outlined focusing on the performance goals of the golfer. This evaluation is completed with a licensed physical therapist with professional tour experience. This program is ideal for the golfer who has had a past, current or chronic injury which is effecting their ability to play golf. This initial session includes the initiation of programming and hands-on services as directed by the evaluating clinician as well as a full written report complete with written results and recommendations.

Golf-Specific Re-Evaluation (60 minutes)

This follow-up examination will assess your progress following the hands-on program implementation. Information and results will be utilized to refocus your programming through goal setting.

Soft Tissue/Joint Mobilization Session (30 minutes)

This treatment consists of one-on-one hands on session with the physical therapist. Joint and soft tissue mobilization is a safe and effective way to increase the flexibility of the golf swing muscles and joints. These highly effective techniques are designed to address the tissues that come under tension during the swing. These techniques will allow a smooth, fluid golf swing free from tight muscles and tissues that cause pain and swing faults. Additional techniques utilized with this service include:

  • Graston® Technique/ASTYM™ - a tool assisted soft tissue technique
  • Vibracussor ® Technique – a mechanical soft tissue compression approach
  • Active Isolated Stretching - The Mattes Method for Golf .
  • ATM2 – Upright treatment table used to minimize the effects of muscle imbalances and acute pain while re-setting the neuromuscular system.

Corrective Exercise Program (30 minutes)

The physical therapist will individually design a mobility, stability and conditioning program that will address the golfers’ functional movement abilities. This exercise approach focuses on the minimization of muscle imbalances that specifically effect swing technique. This exercise approach tends to be hands-on with a focus on purpose and proper technique. Techniques utilized include Active Isolated Strengthening and Functional Movement Screen (FMS) Correction.

BioPrint for Golf – Postural Assessment Tool

Proper muscle and bone alignment have been long recognized as an essential component for consistency in golf. Key anatomical points on your body are highlighted using small reflective discs that adhere to the surface of the skin. Four digital photographs are taken of you, featuring front, back and side views. These reports allow our staff to detect any muscular or skeletal problems that have developed over time showing you exactly how your body is out of alignment. Our golf-specific healthcare professionals then relate these results to your golf game recommending a personalized exercise program to correct imbalances. Progress can be monitored by comparing follow-up BioPrints.

Golf Balance Screen (60 minutes)

Balance – both static and dynamic – is crucial to an efficient, repeatable golf swing. This complete balance screen includes assessment of the golf address posture and a printout of your balance analysis during your full swing motion. The Dynamic Balance System™ presented by Sports Balance Technology, provides real-time, visual feedback helping the golfer visualize and “feel” a powerful, effective and balanced pivot motion. The results of this examination will be used to make recommendations on balance, weight transfer and lower body function. This technology will be combined with 2-D video capture utilizing ASTAR.

Dynamic Balance Practice/Feedback Session (30 minutes)

Working with the Dynamic Balance System™ takes the guesswork out of your practice allowing you to receive instant feedback about your balance and weight-transfer during each golf swing. Utilize for balance analysis during all phases of the game including full swing, chipping and putting. An excellent way to improve your game!! It’s like having your own golf coach during each practice session. Biofeedback techniques may be utilized with our physical therapy staff and/or golf instructors.
